Uric acid lowering therapy for hyperuricemia and gout in CKD patients
Indication
Used for chronic management of hyperuricemia in patients with gout. Indicated for reducing serum uric acid levels in CKD patients with impaired urate excretion.
Mode of Action
Selective xanthine oxidase inhibitor that decreases uric acid production. Safer than allopurinol in renal impairment as it does not require dose adjustment in mild to moderate CKD.
